at least aesthetically, I've been pretty enamored with things like uxn (https://100r.co/site/uxn.html) and basically everything by 100 rabbits.
tl;dr: it's a (very) small vm, 64kb of memory, two 256 byte stacks, 16 "devices" under the idea that it functions as a "universal virtual machine that can be expected to remain compatible with any software that has ever been written for it". it's ~100 lines of C89
permacomputing generally is "a concept and a community of practice oriented around issues of resilience and regenerativity in computer and network technology inspired by permaculture" (https://permacomputing.net/), very much in line with this vibe.
and then of course there are decentralized networks like the og secure scuttlebutt (https://ssbc.github.io/scuttlebutt-protocol-guide/). recently i've been following https://willowprotocol.org/ and they recently launched http://sneakerweb.org/ which seems super neat
